In the Chative inbox, you can share a lot of types of files with your customers to enhance the conversation experience. In this document, we will learn how these types of files work and what their limitations are.

How it works

There are four types of files that you can use during the conversation with your customers in the Inbox, which is: image, audio, video, and file.

  • Only certain file formats can be added.
  • Uploading and sharing files may be restricted in the setting by your organization owner or admin (You can find this option by going to Setting > Conversations > Inbox). This setting only applies to agents, not customers.

File format limitation

When you upload a file in the message, it will be stored in the Chative system. And each PDF, document, image, audio, and video file is limited to 10MB.

And here are the available file formats that you can use in our system:
  • Image: .apng, .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .svg, .avif, .webp
  • Audio: .m4a, .ogg, .wav, .mp3, .flag, .mid
  • Video: .mpg, .mpeg, .avi, .mov, .mp4, .webm, .flv
  • file: .zip, .rar, .tar, .gz, .docx, .odt, .ods, .odp, .pdf, .ppt, .pptx, .xlsx

If your file accidentally reaches over the limit size or is not in the right format, then the file won't be able to upload. At that time, we will show you a warning.

Note: Your customer will see the warning as well when the file they share reaches the limitation.
